Re: Is there such a thing as acceptable advise? In the wake of the recent unfortunate situation in Kansas which will likely see some of our own behind bars for many years to come, an appeal was made by one of us to help advise our own young people. And should I add, all of us? A very sound point that needs to be taken very seriously. But,I have one problem. It seems to me that no one wants to be advised for anything. What do I mean? I think you can agree with me when I observe that every time you want to advise someone, you most certainly receive one of the following reactions. 1. What do you know that I don't know? 2. Whom do you think you are? 3. Mind your own business. 4. I am not a child. 5. I know that. Which leads me to this question: " Is there such a thing as acceptable advise? How can one advise without causing animosity towards self? What kind of advise can one give in the following situations? 1. Someone with a bad breath? 2. Someone wants to marry someone that you know for sure that she/he has a problem? 3. Someone who knows it all. 4. A very hard working, experienced and educated young lady who is about to loose her job for excessive lateness, very negative and stubborn attitude towards co-workers,customers and management? Should you go a head and say something come what or should you let the adage "experience is the best teacher," take its course? Just a thought.
