Re: A cry by our parents/grand-parents. I think you have seen them at churches, fundraiser meetings, pre-wedding /wedding parties and at some homes; Some of them happy and others not so happy. I am talking about our parents/grand parents. All these parents/grand parents came to this great Nation "flowing with milk and honey" for different reasons. Here are some of them: 1.There are those who came to visit their children/grand children. 2.There are those who came here for treatment. 3.There are those who came here to settle for who knows how long. 4.There are those who are here to assist with the grand children. Reasons aside, credit should be given to all those who have worked hard to make it possible for our parents/grand parents to be here. That said, I have a concern. A talk to some of our parents/grand parents tells it all: 1.Some of them are so un happy with their prolonged stay here. 2.Some of them want to go home today and not tomorrow. 3.Some feel like they are locked in prison. 4.Some swear never to return no matter what. 5.Some are so un happy that if possible, they can leave by route 11. Here is a case in point. A couple invited a mother in-law to live with them. After sometime she requested to return but like many of us, the children gave it a deaf ear. The mother became so annoyed that she decided to spend most of her time sitting by the road side. It became so bad that they finally gave in and sent her back. And so to those of us who have parents/grandparents here, there is an urgent need to re examine their feeling. Those who want to stay, should be left alone. And fairness demands that those who want to return should be allowed to return. What we should avoid, is to ignore their desire/demand to return. Or what do some of you think? Just a thought.
