Re: The Karatina Incident - forward Raila has always gone out of his way to defend freedom of movement and expression. That is actually his ticket; a reason most people love him in Kenya. What Kepta Ombati or who ever subscribes to his theory misses, is that the karatina incident or Kisumu incidents forms core rot in our society that permeates every sector, especially in the Government. While others may not be that aggressive, what is in their heart would be equally explosive if not worse. His Excellency Mwai Kibaki must come out strongly and take advantage while the issue is still hot to condemn it in person. Kibaki rose out of his hospital bed and found himself as a President of a united Nation Kenya. Raila himself captained that unity construction in Kibaki's absence. Kibaki must take the leadership of speaking up in person against such core problems. Other Presidents around the World do that. Those Presidents are not stupid but do understand that as a leader, you are supposed to inspire your subjects. A leader must be able to connect with his people in such tragic matters. They must use those opportunity to show direction. Those are the moments as a leader you bring people together. Ombati's article would be more balanced if he let the buck stop with the leader of the Nation, His Excellency Mwai Kibaki. Ordinary Kenyans hate all such vises. Lecturing them on what they can or cannot condemn is not going to make a difference when the leader is not up to it. How does one inspire a Nation through proxy? Even God incarnated into man to fight sin! Thanks Banda Nyaware Joluo.com Akelo nyar Kager, jaluo@jaluo.com |
