Stop the lies about the Kalenjin From: Felix Kibet Rono I am deeply disturbed that there seems to be a deliberate campaign by some selfish individuals to depict the Kalenjin as being supporters of Raila's bid for presidency. Although I live in Nairobi, I constantly interract with my rural based relatives and other Kalenjins from other parts of the Rift Valley. From what I have gathered, many Kalenjins respect President Kibaki's efforts in reviving the economy, and therefore they see no reason why they should vote him out. At the same time, they are wary of the ODM's tactic of inciting the Kalenjin to join in tribal groupings against the Kikuyu. The truth of the matter is that the Kalenjin are deeply divided politically at the moment. However, I predict that it is very likely that President Kibaki will garner slightly more votes than his rivals in the coming elections. Joluo.com Akelo nyar Kager, jaluo@jaluo.com |
