Re: Kibaki back in 2007 hands down Kuria-Mwangi <kjmwangi@. . . > wrote: Bob-K, Raila seems to be gaining very strong grounds. If the reception he got in Bungoma translates to votes, then KBK and co ought to get worried. I think he should give Mudavadi VP and let Ruto remain with the elusive PM post. A Luyia-Kalenjin-Luo voting block is one I would not ignore and should scare KBK to death, esp. with Kalonzo running and so denying him the Kamba votes. The question is whether Luyias would feel cheated with VP position (KBK's and Raila's). Since they dont see Awori as a potential candidate, Raila would have an upper hand. If I were KBK, I would go for either Kombo or Mukhisa (mostly Kombo). The best gift the Luyias can give Kibaki is to uplift Jirongo to a presidential candidate. If I were KBK, i would work hard to encourage Jirongo to run esp. with Mudavadi out of the ballot. That would take votes away from Raila/Mudavadi. In Kalenjin land, I would encourage (If I were KBK) Biwott to run and also ask Moi for help (to campaign for Biwott), hoping that a Biwott name on the ballot (without Ruto) would hold get many of the kalenjin for mundu wa nyumba. KBK may also want to encourage Nyachae to run for presidency:). Breaking up the Western block would be the only way KBK would be assured of winning otherwise if they unite, we may as well start preparing for an Othaya University next year.
