Kenyan diaspora act From: Nicholas Mireri BUSINESS Plan to tap wealth of citizens living abroad Story by NATION Correspondent Publication Date: 8/15/2007 Kenyans living abroad could help small enterprises grow, said Planning and national development minister, Henry Obwocha yesterday . The minister said the Diaspora Act, once enacted, would enable them participate more in development issues. “It will form the basic legal framework that will facilitate constructive engagement of diaspora community into the economy,” he said. Speaking during the Second Diaspora/ SMEs (small and medium enterprises) Trade and Investment Conference, Mr Obwocha said the remittances by Kenyans living abroad was Sh70 billion annually.
