Yote Yawezekana bila MOI AAll said and done, the biggest challenge facing reformers in the coming elections is Moi's divide and rule tactics and propaganda. This is a man who perpetuated his rule by ensuring that those opposed to him were either locked up, disappear , bought or constantly fighting among themselves. Very few positive things resulted from the former presidents reign that can be used to market or remember him. Lets not forget Nyayo torture chambers, land clashes, the FORD wars, Mysterious deaths, Printed/fake notes, run down parastatals, death of coffee and cotton industries, neglected infrastructure, persecution of political and student activists.... mention them. I was not surprised when Cyrus Jirongo or Kalonzo Musyoka cried that Moi had betrayed them. They want us to believe that they did not know that Moi was using them. They are diligently following Moi's script. Moi is within his rights to support Kibakis re election. However his reasons are not convincing. Which peace is he talking about. That those who stole should not be investigated? That those who were implicated in political deaths should not be pursued? That those regions which are marginalized wakae hivyo hivyo? That our Grandfathers continue getting state appointments while the Youth rot in the streets with bags full of qualifications? WE DO NOT NEED THAT KIND OF PEACE. WE "The youth and reformers" must open our eyes. Another five years of an old, tired and non inclusive Government of Moi and Kibaki cronies is too long a time. WE MUST STOP THEM. Whoever is nominated tomorrow by ODM (and the race seems to be between Raila and Mudavadi) should receive our un-divided support. For as it was in 2002 so it still is in 2007, "YOTE YAWEZEKANA BILA MOI. OKOTH LEAKEY SOLA, RARIEDA. Joluo.com Akelo nyar Kager, jaluo@jaluo.com |
