Re: Do we need African churches in Dispora? There are certain needs that the African churches in diaspora meet. Here are some of them: 1.They bring us together thus providing a golden opportunity to get to know one another and praise our God for all His faithfulness and goodness to us. 2.They provide an opportunity for our people to sing, share a testimony, teach, and preach. 3.They serve as a training ground for our young people. 4.They serve the community as follows: *In times of need/bereavement. *Help pass information about those who have been affected. *They dedicate our Little ones to the Lord. *They provide recommendation letters to students and others. Do we have enough Africans to warranty several churches? It's a known fact that there are thousands of Africans in different Cities. Some of these individuals were at one time very dedicated and committed Christians. If all these individuals purposed in their hearts to support the African churches,we'll have several churches wherever we are? So,why do you think some are un willing to support African churches? There would be a number of factors depending of course to whom you are talking to.But,this is what I have experienced or heard other pastors say. 1.We have not learned to support one another. 2.Some are un willing to support pastor so and so. 3.Some see our churches as providing low quality programs. But do we have enough pastors? There is no question about that. We have very qualified, dedicated, and experienced pastors with college degrees (BA,MDIV,DMIN.) Do we honestly need so many churches? You see,the command to go out and preach the good news was given by no any other, than the Lord of the universe Himself.(Mathew 28:18-20) If possible, we should have an African church in every city. Why not? We have the pastors and the people. Any pastor who needs to start a church need to be encouraged rather than discouraged. No committees or individuals should come together to discuss to discourage anyone who feels called to start a church. Finally, please note the following observations: 1.Starting a church should not be seen as dividing the people but rather as fulfilling God's command. 2.I wish to appeal to all to assist African churches grow. All it takes is prayer, stopping by once in a while to fellowship with your fellow Africans, and speaking good and not evil of African churches. Remember that when all is said and done,we need one another in order to realize the "American dream" or is it the "African dream in diaspora? Don't you think so? Just a thought.
