Re:The African man ! Friends, Whether it's pay back or not,I do not know; One thing that I do know is that I have never felt how power less my tribe has become until my daughter brought home a cat called Alexis Rane. Alexis has been with us for only four months and yet has opened my eyes in ways I had never expected.Let me explain. There was a time that we were single and may be happy. Then time came when someone accepted us the way were were. After marriage,we decided to increase our tribe. Then, we had power to make decisions affecting our immediate tribe. Occasionally,we applied some kind of discipline, not because we didn't like our children, but because we wanted nothing but the best for them. Then we moved to a land flowing with" milk and honey," and everything else changed. It wasn't long before we realized that our ladies were so protected that we would not say a thing. No, not even demand for ugali. You either wait or fix it.Worse still, I have heard with my own ears some kind of name calling "nonya nechisese chiangete"(even dogs reject them. As though that was not enough power taken, our own tribe have turned against us. They think,do,walk and go anywhere they want without a word.We are just there as a toothless puppy. When I thought that I had seen enough, then my daughter brought home a cat.Although I remain as poor as a church mouse,I must come up with a budget for the cat. Every time I fail to put the cat's food,it disturbs my peace by constantly asking why. She knows the house so well that now she has invited herself to sleep on my bed while we are gone. Any time I ask her why, she looks at me with a message " touch me and you will see." And so here we are, absolutely powerless. The only good news is that God is and will continue to be for all of us. If we keep on crying to the same God,He will touch the hearts of our tribe so as to make life easy for us.Shall we? Just a thought.
