RE;NYACHAE CANNOT ZONE ABAGUSII BY VIOLENCE One of the most worrying features of our politics is the presence of violence. Hon.William Ruto and Hon.Omingo Magara escaped death just by a whisker in Kisii in what many people say was a planned poltical thuggery to intimidate the two visionary and talented youthful politicians of ODM.Theviolence which was witnesed in Kisii is a show that Kenya needs a change from the old fashioned politicians like Hon. Nyachae. It is also a testimony that the likes of Nyachae do not have any new ideas to survive politically and hence he can only resort to violence to intimidate the youthful politicians who have touch with the common wanainchi. Violence was there in the single party days but has been accentuated in the present era of poltical pluralism.Much of this violence is being perpetuated by young people at the behest of senior or old polticians like Nyachae and Obwocha.Hon.Nyachae should know that it is against democratic ideals and that it boils down to political immaturity. The militia group who came to the fundraising with crude weapons were seen talking to Hon.Nyachae in broad-day light was clear indication that the group was not for any good during the fundraising event. The Abagusii youths shuold resist attempts to be used by anybody to employ physical force against their political opponents. The friday incidence also portrays Abagusii community as undemocratic and backward in the current political dispensation. The Hon.Nyachae should know that politics is a game not war,and that politics is like a marketplace of ideas rather than a bloody affair. The Nyachaes of this world should be told that democracy demands that while we are free to disagree with whatever others say or do;we must at all times respect their right to say or do it. The police is therefore challenged to act and arrest the perpetrators of violence, hooliganism and lawlessness during the electioneering period. JACK KISIA BONDO.
