Paying dowry (Dhi nyombo) I recently went to my in laws to pay my dowry for my woman and other than the Kenya roads which are terrible to travel, it was so much fun. We were treated like VIP. It makes me value my future wife so much more. The beautiful girls of the village even boiled warm water for our bath (No one ever done this for me before, even my own sisters). I think our ancestors did a good thing to start this practice, and we must continue it. My question is, I am just wondering how you do it overseas. If someone is marrying an overseas woman, is it like cash and cows or what for dowry? May be cash and cars, like my sister thinks? And your inlaws, how do they accept you and welcome you to their home just like here? I am Jacob Opondo. Mombasa, Kenya Joluo.com Akelo nyar Kager, jaluo@jaluo.com |
