Moi Campaign and its Implications In early 1990s Mzee Daniel arap Moi spent lots resources trying to convince the men and women of country that multi-partyism will bring about tribalism. He shouted about this so hard that the demons in the borders with the Kalenjin community heard and went on the rampage. This caused these communities lots of damage, with irreparable to this day. Moi did not deserve to rule this country under the multi-party Kenya since he had very deeply endeared dictatorship styles such that no matter his level of adjustment after the repeal of Section 2A of the constitution of Kenya to multi-partyism, he remained the same Moi of the days old detention without trial, except his hands were tied. His exit from politics in 2002 was wildly celebrated across this country and the then Kibaki in wheel chairs showered him with lots of demeaning remarks to his leadership that if Moi was the normal and humble Christian that some Kenyans believe he is, he should have repented in sack clothes and never opened his mouth again to speak politics (even if he had not been ordered by the once very arrogant constitutional affairs minister Hon Kiraitu Murungi). It is for this reason that all Kenyans of reason must treat the re-marriage between Kibaki and Moi with a lot of caution. Like the marriage between Samson and Delilah where the main aim was to trap and kill Samson. It would be very inhuman to prosecute Moi at his age but I believe that as a wise old man, he should be among the first to support peace and reconciliation in the post dictatorship error. Otherwise why would Moi desire to be a peace maker outside Kenya but work extra hours to stop the talk towards peace and reconciliation within his own country. Think of the multitudes that are desperately poor, them that are dying of hunger. What would be so awkward if George, Paul and Daniel shared with such Kenyans only a tip of the Goldenberg (thought to be equivalent to a fair fraction of the Kenyan budget but keep the remaining loot to feed the three families? Mzee Moi ought to support the Kalenjin community by encouraging the majority of them that see themselves as Kenyans and not as Kalenjins. You are too senior to be in record for campaigning among the members of your household like Steve. Noah Otieno Joluo.com Akelo nyar Kager, jaluo@jaluo.com |
