We the people must condemn Violence. Today Sept 24th, Mr. Naychae held a press conference. As usual, Nyachae displayed arrogance and refused to condemn violence. He even contradicted himself by saying that he did not see anything during the Friday incident. “In fact what I show at a distance was a Helicopter”. He went further and dared “Do not threaten me with a sack, I am an old man. I am not looking for job” On Friday Mr.Nyachae was captured on camera commending the shuka clad boys for offering protection and for a job well done. He used vulgar and unprintable words before TV cameras! Are you tired—I am. We the people in the Diaspora must strongly condemn the violence, including the attacks mated on ODM leaders in Kisii on Friday Sept 21st. We must express our deep concern over the increasing violence and firmly condemned the illegal and violent “terrorist” actions by yesteryear politicians. Violence as the age old adage goes begets violence. We should and must condemn violence from any party or person. We must strongly condemn the horrific and devastating attacks on Kenyans. Attacks like those are attacks on democracy. People like Nyachae and his ilk who have always wanted the status quo to remain firmly in place have no place in a modern society. These types of politicians are averse to change. They sunder whenever “somebody else” appears from the horizon. They always want to be “men”. They are allergic to criticism. We must do everything in our power to make it known where we stand as a people. We must demand urgent action by the Kibaki administration to protect every Kenyan. We have started to witness a situation where the ilks of Nyachae are resorting to the barbaric old tactics of scaring Kenyans from embracing change. Security must not be sacrificed to achieve victory in an election. Perhaps the best we can do is to ask the people of Nyaribari Chache to show him the door. We are sick and tired of the same tactics… People! we must stand up and be counted during these historical moments. Persuade people to bring change by electing people to the office who care. People who can be role models to the youth. Not those who misuse the youth. Not those who drug the youth for selfish ends Nyachae Ondimu Minneapolis Joluo.com Akelo nyar Kager, jaluo@jaluo.com |
