MOI'S ENDORSEMENT OF KIBAKI AN INSULT TO KENYANS From: Peter Otieno Why are Kenyans keeping silent in the face of all these? Agreed, Moi deserves respect as an elder and former president, but that respect does not mean Kenyans were happy with his regime. there are so many things that Moi did not do right: economy was brought to its knees by runaway corruption, basic social and physiscal infrastructure were lacking; the rich continued to enjoy at the expense of the poor; poverty hit the peak; and what with mysterious assasinations? It is becoming clear that both Moi and Kibaki have presided over corrupt regimes and cannot therefore be relied on to fix it. Moi is supporting Kibaki for his own selfish reasons; to protect his ill-gotten wealth. Rift Valley cannot follow Moi to this grave, because many of them were equally affected by Moi's coorupt deals, and a number of them were kicked out of their jobs purely on ethnicity grounds. MOI MUST EXERCISE HIS RIGHTS WITHOUT CAUSING DISHARMONY. KENYANS CAN JUDGE FOR THEMSELVES. the future is surely orange [MoneyKenya.com Kenya's Official Business Forum] Joluo.com Akelo nyar Kager, jaluo@jaluo.com |
