Re: The side effects of long serving leaders/employees When it comes to loyalty, there are for sure some individuals who deserve it wholeheartedly. Like who? 1.Those leaders who have served their country/communities for many years. 2.Employees who have worked for the same company/organization for many years. 3.Church members who have been members of one church for many years and served in almost every position in the church. But like in everything else, there are some side effects that come along with many years of service or membership in one church. Here are some of them. 1.Some leaders with time forget how they got where they are and begin mistreating the same people who voted them in. The end result? They end up annoying their constituencies, resulting into being kicked out. 2.Some long serving employees begin to think that they own the company. They become insubordination to their employer and a pain to other employees. Some of them end up being fired and thus loosing their benefits. 3.Long time church members begin to think that they are the church and that without them the church will go no where. They become mean to the pastors and any other leaders. If they are moved or changed to another position, they cause uncalled for chaos. So what's the solution? 1.Some leaders need to know when to call it quit. It's always wise to quit when one is famous and has done some things that people will live to remember.Quit when everybody else is against it.Don't be cheated to stay on.You will end up destroying all that you have struggled to build for many years. 2.Long time employees need to understand that the company has and will do without them.Employers prefer those good at team work. 3.One will expect long time members to be wise in all their actions. They too need to learn when to let it go so as to allow others lead out. They have had many years learning in the school of Jesus and therefore they should know better. All things considered,we all want to be treated with fairness and dignity. Don't you think so? Just a thought.
