ODM Promises Kenyans EQUITY in National Affairs. From: Ajaramogi ODM Promises Kenyans EQUITY in National Affairs. Lets think about Equity. Equity is not the same as Equal; it is more than Equal. Equal Distribution of Resources is not Equitable Distribution of Resources. Equity is Equality with a human face. Equity is Justice with Fairness: The law books may say that spousal abuse is punishable by spending sixty months in jail; but equity demands that a guilty, breast feeding mother can still serve the same term by doing community service. Equity on a house is its value above the mortgage. Likewise, Equity on a Kenyan is his or her value beyond a name or tribe. Equity on Homa Bay District, or North Eastern Province is its value above her natural endowments. Building bridges to nowhere in every district is not equity; it is equal distribution of bridges. Planting cotton in every distirct in Kenya is not equity; it is planting cotton everywhere. Promising seed-crops to a poor farmer a month after the planting season is not equity. Equity is the value of a Kenyan minus the opulence of wealth, or the claws of poverty: Equity can only be valued by the heart of the recipient and not the mind of the provider: A Borehole in Mandera is of greater utility than a fourth air port in Narobi If a politician promises you equal allocation of the national cake, beware; ask how large the cake is,and if everyone will be eating it. If another politician promises Equity in Kenyan national affairs, know that you will get your fair share of the cake irrespective of its size. Good mothers practice Equity everyday: each child according to the intensity of his or her hunger, or need. ODM promises EQUITY = Equality + Fairness = Equality with a human face. Have an Orange Day!
