Re: CATHOLIC CLERICS AND THE NJAU FACTOR The Kenyan Catholic faithfuls should stand up and be counted individually on their political stand. I am a firm believer and a catholic by practice, but i do not follow the political teachings of to be His Eminence Cardinal Njue. I believe that he is excited over his appointment as a cardinal and likewise all other Kenyan catholic faithfuls and instead should use this opportunity to extend his mission as a cardinal to improve poverty, education standards and uplift the concerted spirit of togetherness in a devolved system with equitable distribution of resources to all in Kenya. This is what Catholic church stand for and advocate for in the rest of the world. Like in the US, where i reside, the church though commands a large following, but public inclinations and affiliations to a particular political leader has cost the church a lot of losses in terms of faithfuls changing places of worship. The dearest Cardinal to be, therefore should craft his speeches thoroughly without favoring any side, and should show the rest of the world that Catholic church in Kenya is engaged in lifting the Holy spirit to the rest of the country rather than campaigning for one side, PNU. This political orchestration of Njau will cost the church massive losses in terms of congregation-wise in places and people that want power to be decentralized and brought back to the people. He should emulate the Late Cardinal Maurice Otunga who left a legacy to talk about. Geoffrey Okelo Joluo.com Akelo nyar Kager, jaluo@jaluo.com |
