CHEMELIL SUGAR COMPANY DIRECTOR IN ELECTION RACE FOR BELGUT SEAT IN KERICHO

Mr Justice K.Kemei the former Marketing director of the Chemelil Sugar Company in Nyando district launched his election campaign in Belgut constituency at the weekend.

The launching ceremony was held at Kiptere Divisional headquarters .It was well attended by thousands of men, women and children. Several Kipsigis traditional dancers groups and women choirs graced the occasion with songs heaping a lot of praise to the aspirant.

During the launching ceremony, which was also attended by civic leaders and many aspirants for civic seats in the area, a brandy new ambulance van, which was purchased by Mr.Kemei under the auspices of his Justice Foundation, was in full display with its siren on.

The aspirant bought the Ambulance single handedly as part of his personal contribution to the local communities. The vehicle is to be stationed at Kiptere and Sosiot sub-district Hospital to standby and for ferrying the sick and expectant mothers to the maternity wards to the nearby Hospital.

Several speakers who included civic leaders opinion leaders and aspirants for civic seats thanked Mr.Kemei for having done a lot in the area.

The aspirant who is contesting the election on ODM ticket showered a lot of praise to the party's Presidential nominee Raila Amolo Odinga for his bravery and consistence in the fight to bring about the meaningful change in the country.

'If elected to Parliament I will work hand in hand with Raila Odinga because he is a man of principle and genuinely committed to the service of the under privileged Kenyans.' Mr.Kemei said

Kemei said ODM is a party of the ordinary Kenyans while PNU belongs to the rich class and as such the party of President Mwai Kibaki will not bring about the needed law and constitutional reforms.

Kemei whose speech was interrupted by heavy afternoon rains said he had agenda for both the youth and women groups and would work hard to ensure the two groups were adequately served and empowered economically.

A trained journalist with the masters degree from Nairobi and London Universities Mr Kemei had earlier served with the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting as a district Information Officer in various districts for several years.

He also served as the public relation Manager with National Cereals and Produce Board (NCDB) for another seven years and ended up working as a marketing director for Chemelil Sugar Company for seven years.

He is contesting against the incumbent MP Charles Keter who is also firm in ODM

Mr Kemei promised the voters that if elected he would ensure that the CDF and all other funds issued for development are adequately distributed to all the targeted economic and social development projects .It will be the responsibility of the local people to decide and handle the money as well as distribute it to the deserved projects, he said

He would also ask the community to build a secondary school for each one of the 14 locations in Belgut . This will help the parents in cutting down the long distance covered by students in search of boarding schools, which are far expensive exercise to the average families.

Belgut being a tea growing zone, he said he said he will thrive to ensure that the small scale green leaves tea farmers are paid adequately for their sweats and that access and feeder roads are constructed and maintained for easy transportation of the cash crops to the buying centres.

The huge ground that, gathers at Kiptere endorsed the candidature of Mr Kemei for Belgut seat and Raila Odinga's bid for Presidency as the party torch bearer .The crowd pledged to campaign vigorously for Raila Odinga.
