Re: Jakom and ODM nominations Meshack Owino - masembo@ . . . wrote: I agree with Odundo Ja Karateng' and others in asking, nay, demanding, for free and fair nominations in ODM. There should be no sacred cows angling for automatic, guaranteed nominations. Everybody should fight for nomination as equals. That is democracy; it is what we have been fighting for all these years. We should not be fighting for democracy abroad, in this case, Kenya, while stilfing it at home, that is Luo Nyanza. It would smark of hypocricy. You know, we should be careful about this thing called automatic nomination. Once you guarantee some sacred cows automatic nomination for the ODM ticket, it becomes a slippery slope from there. Where do you stop? What is the criteria? Why and how do you determine that this person here is entitled to automatic nominations, and this other person here isn't? Let us avoid this automatic nomination thing. It is a slippery slope. It is akin to releasing the genie from the bottle; you won't put it back. Raila should stand up and above it. Finally, this is a question to Jaduong Odhiambo Oketch. Among the names you listed for automatic nomination, I saw Hon. Oburu Odinga's name. I stand to be corrected, but may I ask why Hon. Oburu Odinga deserves automatic nomination. How has he helped the people of Bondo constituency ever since he went to parliament in 2003? Is it not his constituency of Bondo that sent CDF money back to the treasury the other day, even though that money could have done a lot for the people of Bondo? For example, installing a modern water pump at River Yala to provide clean drinkable water to the people of Bondo? Meshack Owino. Joluo.com Akelo nyar Kager, jaluo@jaluo.com |
