Controlling Marchandise at point of origin.. It is high time that the Government took the initiative of controlling merchandise that enters the country through the port of Mombasa at the point of origin. Products should not be cleared at the customs department alone without including those at the point of origin. This would encourage clearing of items at the port faster at the same time the rate of corruption and other illegal transaction would be minimized. On the other hand current corporate culture involving government officials, civil servants and businesspersons and who are close to government have made many to metamorphosize into market-driven salespeople for government. This has led to the unilateral awarding of tenders to cronies. It seems the government has a long marathon to run. Regards, Mundia Mundia Jnr. Joluo.com Akelo nyar Kager, jaluo@jaluo.com |
