RAILA AND 1982 COUP

The 1982 coup took place when I was on holiday in Stockholm. At Sheration Hotel, I read a public telex that indicated that a General Gichuru, the Army commander, and General Macharia, were strangely on holiday at the time of the coup attempt, and that Macharia was sighted at a Nairobi eastlands estate. The telex went farther by stating that the pro-Moi forces were in the thick of the fight at Muthaiga, home of Kibaki and Limuru, home of Njonjo and that their whereabouts were not known.

It ended by saying that whoever is trying to connect Oginga Odinga family with the coup had to think hard because it was most unlikely!

When I showed this paper to the security officer, a Kikuyu at our Embassy at Stockholm, he quickly grabbed it from my hand and disappeared. From the turn of events, now this officer seemed to have actively controlled the damage that could have come out of the Scandinavian telex.

From the foregoing, what if history later proved that the true organizers of the coup were both living at Muthaiga and Limuru, pro rata rata? How can it be explained that the Kenya army met with maximum resistance at both houses as their owners whereabouts could not be traced at the time? After two days Njonjo and Kibaki reappeared in Kiambu in a mandamano 'supporting' Moi and the coup failure.

Those who are gleefully connecting Raila with the coup might one day be made to eat their words when the truth rears its ugly head.

Is it not true that goats were slaughtered to celebrate the coup attempt in Stockholm and Moscow by Kikuyu diplomats?.
