When we applaud, smile and cheer
The peers of rape, battery and molestation
And everywhere; the legal and moral clash
What is best: peace or violence?

Whichever side of the coin we look ,
In a society of alcohol, drugs and gambling?
A society of pimps, whores and whoremongers
Where rape is but a macabre practical joke
And the guilt of incest is no longer a yoke

When politicians clobber each other for power
When fathers rape their infant daughters
When house wives scald their maids
When the police clobber the innocent
When trauma and rejection breed dejection
And the solution is beyond our grasp

In political life and security operations
In domestic life and sexual love
In infant rearing and labour relations
Where what ails us, fails us
What is best; peace or violence?

In our songs, our poetry, our graphics
In our drama, our cartoons and skits
Where holistic Art is a vital ingredient
In the stemming of violence everywhere,
In the spreading of the gospel of peace
For harmony, synergy, tranquility, prosperity
The quintessence of the humanist movement

When society cannot salvage the vulnerable
In incest: when sons rape mothers
In rape: when one obtains sex violently
In molestation: when adults molest minors
In pedophilia: when grown ups accost minors sexually
In police duty: when police clobber innocent suspects
In domestic ambience: when husbands batter wives
In child labour: when employer flog child labourers
When the self cannot retain its integrity
What is best: peace or violence?
For the good sake of humanity and virtues of peace

To salvage the vulnerable from iniquities
In consonance with societal expectations
