Hey --
I wanted to add to the thread from David and Michelle below.
The traditional way of raising money -- event after event,
an endless series of phone calls to potential donors -- is a reality of our
political process.
We rely less on this than any other campaign, but it will
continue to be a reality until we elect a president who will fix it.
The fact is, traditional fundraising requires politicians
to spend too much time away from the voters we need to be talking to.
In our broken system, the easiest route for a candidate is
often to put aside passion and idealism and spend more and more time raising
money from a parade of Washington lobbyists and special interest groups. I
reject that path, and we have refused to take any money from federal lobbyists
or political action committees.
We're proving a new model for campaigns. We've raised a
record number of small donations from Americans who want the people to own
our political process again.
This fundraising drive is part of that new model.
Help reclaim a day from traditional fundraising with your
online donation and send me back out on the campaign trail in Iowa. The caucuses
are only fifty days from today.
Good things are happening in Iowa and elsewhere -- we can win
this election, but only with your continued help.
