The Stedman’s polls beg the following questions:

1. what accounts for the 7.2% rise in the president’s figures?
2. how can he lead in only one province and yet get that much?
3. how come the opposition party ODM is the party of choice for majority of respondents (even aspirants!!) and also considering the civil war within PNU and its affiliate parties such as DP, New Ford Kenya, Safina etc over joint nominations, yet the president surges on?!  How can Kenyans give him their votes and yet deny votes to his vehicle – read party - to State House? How do the respondents expect the president, assuming he wins the elections, drive his legislative agenda?!
4. does it mean that one region in the republic can determine the fate of the rest of the republic in the choice of a president even if 6 or 7 provinces vote against that candidate?

Folks, something just does not add up. One would have expected that somebody does his homework well. This includes getting simple arithmetics right. I find even the newspapers interesting - why did they shirk their responsibility of having their facts and figures right before printing them? Did readers have to call and point out the anomaly that even a cursory glance would have pointed out just did not add up! What are editors and sub-editors doing?!

More than the opinion polls, what ODM and all its supporters need to do is to imagine there are no polls and campaign as though our life depends on it. In fact we need to imagine the worst (if the above is any indication of things to come) and vigorously campaign for real change and not a continuation of the status quo such as Kuresoi and Mt. Elgon clashes, Muslims’ deportations, marginalization, Kroll Report, the thuggish Mamluki, Anglo Fleecing etc.
