KTN MAIN HEADLINES Kibaki meets PNU candidates | Play --------------------------------- President Kibaki skipped a PNU strategy meeting at the Kenyatta International Conference Centre when rebel parliamentary aspirants who ditched PNU after the party nominations showed up at the venue. The President instead hosted all the candidates for lunch and called for harmony in his party. The PNU stand-off unfolded as reports indicated that the PNU had block-booked all major city venues most weekends between December 1 and 25 just two days to the election. The venues include Uhuru Park, Kamukunji grounds, Nyayo Stadium, City Stadium and the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani. ---------------- Date: Tue, 27 Nov 2007 00:12:59 -0500 (EST) KENYA GOVERNMENT BURNS OPOSITION PARTY (ODM) FROM CAMPAIGNING IN NAIROBI Dear Salim: All venues in Nairobi have been booked by PNU, President Kibaki's party from December 1 to December 25, 2007. The venues include Uhuru Park, Kamukunji grounds, Nyayo Stadium, City Stadium and the Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani. The move by the government technically means that ODM leaders have been blocked from campaigning in Nairobi. The action by the government is unjust and must be condemned by all peace loving Kenyans. ODM membership, especially the youth, must come out in their thousands to demand that the government must rescind this undemocratic action and allow ODM to campaign in Nairobi. First it was the unilateral appointments of ECK commissioners, issuing of universities, title deeds, districts, roads, bore-holes, etc. And now this government has decided to openly rig the election in its favour by denying the opposition the opportunity to canvass for votes. Kenyans demand for a level playing field in all its manifestation. Gordon Teti KTN has the details: http://www.ktnkenya.tv/ Joluo.com Akelo nyar Kager, jaluo@jaluo.com |
