Date: Fri, 23 Nov 2007 19:57:59 -0500 From: JEAN AYACKO Subject: Rongo Constituents I think its fair to give credit where its due. Ochillo like him or hate him has made some initiatives in Rongo constituency. I know a lot of children who have benefited from the Constituency development funds in terms of school fees and text books etc. I also know he worked in collaboration with former MD of Sony Ambrose of Otieno to ensure farmers were paid quicker, even though this is still a problem, as a farmer I can testify to the changes. Otieno was an MP and later a nominated MP in Rongo constituency. He really hasn't said what he plans to do different from what he did before. I think if Rongo needed complete change, neither Dalmas nor Ochillo will provide it. It has to be somebody different. Oteno is known to discriminate against the people of Awendo which is rather unfortunate. I also do not believe Ochillo had anything to do with Japuonj's wife. Having been to school with Ochillo a while back, I know him better than that. That was propaganda and it indeed did served its purpose considering it hurt mheshimiwa's image. I think Jean meant only 31, 000 people voted in the nominations not 21, 000 which is far below the registered voters in Rongo. Like anyone else who was in Rongo on the nomination day, I didn't appreciate the violence displayed by Otieno youth. That was a bit too much. I congratulate Otieno if he won clean and fair but if he did not, the voters will have a final say come December. Joluo.com Akelo nyar Kager, jaluo@jaluo.com |
