Jagwassi ODM nominations set for last day By LUCAS BARASA ODM has decided to set its party nominations for civic and parliamentary candidates on November 16, the last day provided by the Electoral Commission. The party’s National Elections Board secretary Josephine Kuluo said the primaries will be held from 6.30am to 2pm. "A list of the polling stations shall be issued before then," Ms Kuluo said in a statement. The announcement now heightens campaigns for the ODM parliamentary and civic tickets. The party, which recent opinion polls indicate is the most popular in the country, has attracted a record about 20,000 civic candidates and 2000 parliamentary. Chepalungu constituency, whose MP in ninth Parliament was former Cabinet Minister John Koech, has attracted 43 candidates. In Baringo Central, 11 aspirants are eyeing ODM ticket to face it out with outgoing MP Gideon Moi in the December 27 elections. They include former Kanu supremo and retired President Moi close ally Hosea Kiplagat, former Kituro High School Principal Mr Julius Bolei, former Commissioner of Lands Sammy Mwaita and Nairobi businessman Enock Chepkwe. Others are Nairobi architect Mr Reuben Rutto, former Kenyan ambassador to Sweden Michael Sergon and Dr Richard Kalya. Last week, ECK gave political parties until November 16 to conduct their parliamentary and civic nominations. The official day of filing nomination papers to the ECK has been set for November 14 and 15 for presidential candidates and November 23 and 24 for parliamentary and civic.
