From: Dr. Jarongo Omolo (Clumbus, Ohio) THE 2007 KENYA PRESIDENTIAL
DEBATE: OPPOSITION SHOULD AVOID THE DEBATE ToKCA leadership,
The above are issues that that favor only the incumbent. You have only chosen topics/issues that are the strong points that PNU is campaigning on and are well articulated in their manifesto. The issues of enough of the status quo. KCA has deliberately decided to exclude issues such as devolution, corruption, constitution and tribalism in public appointments. Remember Kenyans voted in Kibaki (among other issues) on a corruption platform, new constitution, and not on the status quo ? The electorate is much more informed and therefore KCA should chosen to conduct their debates on issue based topics and not on the status quo. The electorate is looking at quality of leadership more than ever before. If I were Hon. Odinga, Mr. Pius Muiru, and Mr. Kalonzo Musyoka, I would avoid the debate; not because of any deficiency, but because topics are tailored to give the incumbent advantage. Moreover, because KCA is not a neutral party in the current campaigns its leaderships have no credibility as moderators. Majority of members of KCA from the list are members of PNU and have been campaigning for the President. Hon. Odinga Odinga and Mr. Kalonzo Musyoka, must be advised not to honor the KCA debate. KCA has stated their
goal is to establish a culture of elevated political discourse that hinges
on national development and the forging of a united citizenry. Our common
interest is also to overcome the crippling barriers of tribalism and economic
imbalances that often impede progress. ===================================================== Joluo.com Akelo nyar Kager, jaluo@jaluo.com |
