This Election is not for the Faint Hearted From: Linet Adhiambo I just thought to share this with other bloggers on Jaluo.com, that this election is not for the faint hearted. Most people already know this, but some still have not realised yet. The Media was attacked. They coined Anglo leasing and paid money to unknown accounts and we also heard some money was brought back from unknown sources. Unknown how?? They set up commissions some thing we thought would bear fruit but all we heard was millions of shillings used up to try to explain how our country was swindled out of billions which we were not getting back anyway? They brought some arrogant Armenians who were accorded VIP treatment and to date no one explains what they were doing here. They brought a fake former Mau mau Hero who spent state Money for flight and accomodation only to turn out to be an Ethiopian national. They printed fliers with our tax money to try to convince us how proud we are of our country. Who ever heard of such nonsense, isn't pride something that comes from the heart? They did nothing while Kenyans died in clashes for 5 years as if there was no government in place. They executed innocent people in the name of Mungiki, yet it would have been easier to start from the top and deal with the leadership- everyone knows to kill a snake you do not hit the tail you hit the head. They did not protect Kenyan citizens in some parts of the xtry, where they had to give a protection fee and pay dues to a parallel government or else face the Militias music. One cannot run a business without paying dues to these groups neither is your protection guaranteed yet there is a government in place which swore to protect all citizens? They redrafted a new constitution off the Bomas draft and told Kenyans- it would be passed whether we liked it or not?? Ever heard of such @#? yet this was to be decided in a referendum? They started off with mild propaganda which people shrugged off because they could not explain themselves neither could they prove any of the claims They heard about Majimbo and decided to Run with this and demonise it till it turned black, Odm christened it Ugatuzi . Bottom line is if the name is the only problem why not change it ?There was dead silence to Ugatuzi only some semi-literate fellows tried to change the word to Ungatuzi- you wonder if in this day and age we need such people as leaders in our country?? What Kenyans have been saying is they want the voice of the people heard how our country is run and a clear explanation of how our taxes are spent and resources distributed. They repeatedly told us that devolution was already here and that CDF is perfect and we did not need anything more. What about equity we asked? CDF cannot build roads , address all the needs of communities that have been marginalised for the past 40 years? Answer was all this country needs is CDF. When someone heard that indeed Kenyans really wanted devolution, they sneaked it into their MOU(?) as well as the word equity. Can you trust them to devolve funds and ensure equity? Can you anyone out there?? We know that in 2002 we got promises (a) 500,000 jobs yearly (b) A new constitution (c) End to Corruption (d) End to tribalism and nepotism among other things. The 2002 pleges have now been trashed, they now say that Kenyans have a mind of their own and one cannot determine how fast a new constitution can be agreed on. They have no plan to start the process, so we are looking at 1 year, 5 years or forever. If it's true Kenyans are not easily swayed to decide on issues which affect them why not present the issues as discussed by the majority, debate then arrive at a consensus . The problem is not that the people will shoot down a new constitution in a referendum, its that the government cannot doctor already discussed provisions then try to manipulate the people to pass them as gospel truth. When the PNU -MOU states that the Economy would double in PNU terms this means the prices of essential commodities will double in the next 5 years. Are we ready for this yet our earnings remain the same? Why do I say this election is not for the faint hearted this is bcoz now: They have printed booklets aimed at tarnishing ODM presidential candidates name. They have dropped leaflets in the Rift Valley. They are churning out propanganda by each passing day aimed at discrediting ODM. Some of these are aimed at Muslims other Christians , others general. Just be on the look out if something drops in your inbox, pause and ask yourself afew questions before you make a conclusion. If you take a moment you will realise this is mere propaganda. If you are a christian this is the time to go on your knees and ask for God helps, if you are Muslim turn to Allah. Remember with PNU- we'll have no new constitution in the next 5 years, forget devolution( CDF is perfect as per PNUists), forget decentralization, forget goods roads. Remember Tribalism/Nepotism will be the order of the day, roadside declarations will be a way of life(the new districts dished out during campaigns remember?), Your qualification to a job will be based on whether you attended Makerere University and is at least 70 years of age. This Election is not for the faint hearted, do not beleive all you see and all you hear base your decisions on facts and facts do speak for themselves.
