Administration of the Nairobi City and its Slums has been turned over to foreign Interests!! From: Lucia Akech When of a country's infrastructure is handed over to foreign entities piece by piece, one must conclude that the people running the government are incapable of protecting the Kenya's sovereignty. The creation of slum cities in Kenya has been a process that took many years of neglect. While this process was developing, Kenya has never failed to spend billions of shillings buying military equipments, used primarily by the ruling elites to intimidate the rest of the Kenyan population. This amount of money should have been spent towards the building of affordable housing in the slums. The UNEP, now eager to do something about Kibera, has been dead silent until now that some foreign individuals are finding ways to make money on the backs of the poor people who have been condemned to these disgusting areas. They have figured out that Kenyan youths living in these slums can be employed as garbage collectors for the pilot program they want to implement. For goodness sake, the youths in the slums have dreams too. If you dare ask them what their dreams are, I bet it will not be "garbage collection". I do not think that the elites, whether local or foreign, should be in the business of determining what the future professions of Kenya's youth should be. It is very shameful that tribalism and racism are allowed to dismantle the aspirations of multitudes of future leaders of Kenya. If Kenyan government cannot protect the interests of its youths by securing its sovereignty, one wonders who will. It looks like the ruling elites buried the heads in the bribery sands since 1963!! The multinational corporations are interested in their bottom line, which happens to be cheap labour at all costs. They are actually the brains behind the governing of many countries in Africa. The ruling elites are merely there as their tools. When Kenyans go to polls, the must think very carefully that they not electing "YES SIR" men. We want people who can negotiate good trade deals with people who want to do business in Kenya.
