Safaricom to be sold to corrupt Kenyans disguised as 'foreign' investors
=====================================================From: njerikaw Sent: Wednesday, November 20, 2007 6:35 PM Mweni How is Tsavo Securities Limited? Did you buy me the Kenya Re shares? Now, you are in the stock market. I here so much about Safaricom. What is this I here that the Treasury and the transaction advisors are going to be selling between 20 to 35 to foreign investors? Is this fair to Kenyans who have struggled to build it for last 5 years? I thought this IPO should be sold to local Kenyans, then we can sell to anyone in the secondary market. What's you take, is Safcom coming this year? Njeri -- From: Fred Mweni Sent: Wednesday, November 21, 2007 6:48 PM Subject: FW: Safaricom to be sold to 'foreign' investors Njeri It's true that they are considering selling Safaricom to themselves but disguising as 'foreigners'. The Safaricom advisors have put in an allocation criteria allowing at least 20% to 35% of the issue to 'foreign investors' Tsavo Securities Limited is and will be against selling Safaricom to foreign investors because this market can subscribe up to 120 billion without having to open those fake foreign investors. I believe, their reasoning is that Kenyans will not be able to fully subscribe the Kshs50-60billion Safaricom IPO. But this is not true. However, If this is true according to treasury, then let's postpone the issue till when Kenyans have the funds. My take is 'Kenyans' have set up companies out side the country now they are being introduced through the back door thro treasury and their advisors. I believe there are no foreign investors here, just Kenyans. I believe, Kenyans will be duped to sell to foreigners who are locals. Later on we shall see them all the foreigners selling everything to locals My take is that this IPO is going to be a sham, if we pushed it through the throat of Kenyans, at a bad time, when most Kenyans will be in holidays and election mood in December 07. Am informed that it could be opening on Monday of 10th December 2007 and close 11 January 2008. Lets keep talking.
