Youth Development Fund; The Kibaki style I was happy to note that after 2 years of dilly dallying with the Youth Development Fund, President Kibaki put into effective use the said funds today. Young Kenyans were mobilized and each paid his share of the Youth Fund for them to attend what they called Youth Rally at Uhuru Park. There was ready transport to and from Uhuru Park, and many Kenyans who have tried in vain to access the said funds, readily accepted the handouts, for that is all that they could get. I commend all those who were paid to attend the function. This is also your country, and as you know, you will get nothing from Kibaki, just like you have failed to access the Youth Development Fund for the last 2 years that it has existed. When Kibaki was introduced to address the youth, I laughed when he again promised them jobs. He did the same in 2002, and promptly forgot the youth in favour of the old men. Now that he is asking for his last term, and given that he will not feel obligated to anybody, will he really deliver? Do you remember Kibaki made Moi an Ambassadeur to Sudan, when we all voted against Moi and his project? Didn't he know that we have capable youths at that time? Has he only realized that we have youths who are deserving now? The youth of Kenya must eat this money now, and vote for the real change. That real change will only come through ODM and Raila Odinga. The president then told the Youth that he will build roads to link the 5 countries of East Africa. Now, has the man gone to Western Kenya in the recent past by road? Why promise on what you have failed to deliver in the 5 years that we gave you? Does the man think that the Youth do not think and see? He has neglected the roads to Western Kenya and many other parts of Kenya, and concentrated in building roads in Central Province. Kenyans have taken note of this, and come Dec 27th, we will vote for the real change; ODM. Lastly, the Bible says; a man shall live for 70 years, and the rest, by the Grace of God. Let Kibaki go rest at home now. Odhiambo T Oketch Komarock Nairobi Joluo.com Akelo nyar Kager, jaluo@jaluo.com |
