Kenyans, we must fix this thing Do you know that ODM has been effectively locked out of the airwaves? Do you also know that we might find ourselves with no venue to hold any rally? And do you know who is doing this? In response to all this, Kenyans must take charge and drive the ODM agenda forward and ensure that come December 27th, we elect ODM with a landslide that is beyond rigging. Any sane democrate will not lock his opponents off the airwaves, rally venues, and still yarp that he is the choice of the people. In any competition, all participants ought to be given thier fair share of airwave time, their fair access to all political venues, and thier fair access to decent competition. But if your opponent plays this dirty, then something must be seriously wrong somewhere, to an extent that Kenyans must be denied the opportunity to vote in a government of their choice. Something must have gone terribly wrong with this government, whose truth must not come out. If it means spending all the moneys to stop an ODM wave, so be it. But Kenyans are smart. We have come a long way that Kibaki with his monkey tricks cannot stop us from voting him out. The man and his team are so desperate that all efforts must be put in place to stop Raila from becoming the next president of our country. As we all know, desperate times call for desperate measures, Kenyans must all come out and rally behind ODM so that we can fix this thing. We have several things to put in place for the benefit of Kenyans and Kenya; 1] Judiciary; We must fix the Judiciary to make it functional. We do not need to send the judges and magistrates home in a tribal re-alignment the Kibaki style, but we need to have performance index for all the judges and the magistrates on a daily basis. We need to know what each judge/magistrate does in a day; how many cases he concludes, how many cases he postpones and why, how many cases he adjorns and why. Through this system, we will deconjest our courts. We must make the delivery of justice efficient, so that litigants do not spend so many years following on cases which village elders could dispense with in 5 minutes. 2] KACC; We must pass a law dissolving this thing. Ringera has failed, and he was meant to fail from the beginning. This thing does absoluteley nothing. The cases it pretends to handle can be best handled by the police and the AG. The kind of money Ringera and his team have consumed must be the subject of police inquiry. This was basically a state sponsered pilferage on our economy. 3] Roads; We must build new roads across Kenya. The amount of money Kibaki and his team have swindled are enough to build for Kenya modern roads. That must be a priority. 4] Education; We must make education affordable for our parents. This thing called free education was a sham. Kenyans have to contend with escalating prices of essential commodities to enable Kibaki give free primary education. Now with his promise for free secondary education, be prepared to pay through your nose. We must stop him on his tracks, and give ODM the mandate to manage our education system. 5] Electric Power; Kenynas must be given the benefit of enjoying electric power in their homes. The past regimes have perfected the art of giving false hope whenever they see an election. We must vote Kibaki out and give ODM the mandate to light up Kenya. 6] Health Care; Charity Ngilu tried to give Kenyans an affordable health care which Kibaki vetoed. Kibaki cannot turn around and pretend that he can now give the same to Kenyans. This is an election gimmick for which Kenyans must vote him out for. We should give that mandate to ODM. They have the interest of Kenyans at heart. Lastly, it is laughable to listen to Kibaki struggle with words on what he wants to do for us now, things that he has failed to do for the last 44 years he has been part of the Kenyan government. He had promised us a new constitution in 100 days in 2002. Now, he is conveniently ignoring that area. he only says that ours is a good constitution. I bet because it allows him to hide his dirty tricks under the immense presidential powers. Kibaki had promised us that he will deal with tribalism firmly and make it history. When he took over, he presided over the most tribal government ever witnessed in this planet. He now turns around and shouts the loudest that he does hate tribalism. My God. Where has honesty evaporated to? The man is so tribal. He cannot turm around and pretend that he did not make all those senior appointments! Kenyans must find him guilty of this and pass judgement appropriately; back to Othaya, and for good. Kibaki promised us that he will deal with corruption. But after taking over, corruption became high tech. Note that the man was Minister for Finance for so long, and he could hide facts and figures so convincingly. Now, he has hidden Anglo Leasing so convincingly that a deal could be negotiated, signed, sealed, and paid for, yet when Kenyans demand to know who signed on behalf of the other side, then nobody knows, and that becomes final. To an extent that upto now, we do not know who Kibaki dealt with in Anglo Leasing. They even send back some moneys, and yet, we still deny their knowledge. That is Kibaki for you. And in his current campaigns, the man keeps mute on corruption. Kibaki had promised us 500,000 jobs in 2002. He says he has delivered on this. And now, he is promising the youth more jobs. I do not know which youth will believe him, for we know for sure that the people Kibaki employed were all old men. The litany of Kibaki failures are so many that we cannot list. All that I can say is that we must save Kenya from this crop of vicious leadership. A leadership that is so desperate to retain power that they opt for scotched earth policy. Vote ODM, Vote Raila Odinga, and you will be counted amongst those who saved Kenya. Odhiambo T Oketch Komarock nairobi Joluo.com Akelo nyar Kager, jaluo@jaluo.com |
