ODM STATEMENT ON THE JUST ENDED SAFARICOM ‘KWACHUA MILLIONI’ COMPETITION ODM would like to bring to the fore the tribalism that was blatantly manifested in the just concluded Safaricom Kwachua millioni competitions. It was not lost to the ODM pentagon that 98.9% of the so called ‘’winners” came from one tribe and region. Polls conducted by Steadman one week before the conclusion of the above competition showed that winnings would be spread as follows:

100.00 However, it is in public domain that winners exclusively came from one mountainous region and from the big tribe. ODM would like to very categorically state as follows: ONE. That ODM was not consulted in the nomination of the Betting and Control board members in complete disregard to the IPPG agreement of 1997. TWO. That the so called competition is an attempt by the Treasury to sell Safaricom to the Kibaki cronies through the back door. THREE. That Safaricom CEO Mr. Michael Joseph owes Kenyans and the ODM pentagon an unconditional apology and resignation for allowing the perpetrators of grand corruption to knock on the doors of Safaricom House. FOUR. That one Mr. Hiram Mwaniki Kamunge, the winner of 10M, is indeed a brother to a senior politician from Mt. Kenya region and not a ‘mechanic’ from Limuru as being alleged. FIVE. That ODM, upon assuming power, will set up an insurance scheme to compensate all those who lost in the Kwachua scandal. SIX. That this is another pyramid scheme where Kenyans have once again lost their hard-earned money. SEVEN That the ODM pentagon will institute legal proceedings in the High Court seeking the unconditional nullification of the competition results and immediate recovery of the prize monies. EIGHT That the Majimbo system being advocated by ODM will provide a platform of checks and balances to avoid a scenario similar to the above where resources are only channeled to one politically-correct region.
