ORENGO SPEAKS OUT! POLITICS Orengo to contest Ugenya seat Story by NATION Correspondent Publication Date: 11/5/2007 Former Ugenya MP James Orengo on Sunday made a comeback to elective politics with a conciliatory message. Mr Orengo admitted that the Orange Democratic Movement presidential candidate, Raila Odinga was a political supremo and sought forgiveness for his failure to support him in Narc during the 2002 General Election. "In 2002 election, I did not trust Mr Mwai Kibaki whom Mr Odinga was campaigning for," he said when he launched his campaigns for the Ugenya parliamentary seat at the Ugunja shopping centre. In the 2002 elections, Mr Orengo contested the presidency on a Social Democratic Party against the National Rainbow Coalition. He lost his parliamentary seat. He urged residents of the constituency to turn out in large numbers to vote in Mr Odinga in the elections and advised them against selling their votes. "Raila is the best president for Kenya because he is a fearless leader and a strong proponent of change," he said, adding that the much-talked about political tsunami had come. He pledged to continue pushing for a new constitution. Joluo.com Akelo nyar Kager, jaluo@jaluo.com |
