Re: 5 years later Kenya is not the first one to go into polls to chose new leaders. This is an exercise that is now practiced in many democratic countries after every five years. But there is something interesting about this years election that puzzles many. There seem to be some ill-feelings from some quarters towards the current president. And this is what I fail to understand. Why so? Five years ago,Kenyans voted in President Kibaki with hopes that Kenya will change for ever. The famous "Kibaki tosha" echored by Honorable Raila was backed and supported by many.Today, five years later, one gets the feeling that Some Wananchi want President Kibaki out and back to Othaya! What happened? Is there a lesson we can all learn? Here is what I have read and heard from different reliable sources. 1.Whether by design or by being misled, the president made a serious mistake by isolating himself from those who helped him to win. 2.The president kept quiet when he was supposed to speak and spoke when he was supposed to be quiet. 3.That he had the guts to call his subjects names in public puzzled many. 4.His inability to control his wife has done more damage that good. To slap your subjects in public has earned her a nick name she will live with. 5.The coming on board of President Moi and Honorable Uhuru and the succession talk has no doubt angered some. Whether President Kibaki wins or not,he will most definitely live to regret the above. Are there any lessons here for me? Absolutely. Here are some. 1.Love, respect, and treat every Manchu with dignity. 2.When your subjects are crying, listen and do something. 3.Be a man of people always. Last minute connection usually don't help. 4.Once at the top,do not forget those who helped you to be there. Mine is to pray that all may go well in the forth coming election. God bless Kenya. Blessings to each one of you. Pr Bari Joluo.com Akelo nyar Kager, jaluo@jaluo.com |
