Mr. Kibaki Read the Writing on The Wall Mr. Bokassa who later became emporor was born in bobangi, a village in Moyen- Congo, in the present Central African Republic. He overthrew a legitemate government and assumed power as president of the Republic and head of the sole political party. Bokassa abolished the constitution of 1959 and began to rule by decree. In 1972, Bokassa declared himself president for life. Because of the Central African soil's mineral resources (including uranium and diamonds), some countries like France, Switzerland and the United States supported Bokassa and dealt with him because of the minerals. The Franco-Central African relationship changed when the French intelligence service learned about Bokassa's willingness to become a partner of Qadhafi. In December 1979, the French council officially stopped all support to Bokassa. Bokassa declared the republic a monarchy. He issued an imperial constitution. Though it was claimed that the new Empire would be a constitutional monarchy suppression of dissenters remained widespread. Torture was rampant, with Bokasa himself participating in beatings. Former President Dacko led a successful coup on September 20, 1979. Bokassa fled to Ivory Coast then sentenced to death in absentia in December 1980 but he returned from exile in France on October 24, 1986. To cut the story short. Bokasa story is not unique. Many like Mobutu, Amin and even lately Saddam suffered the same fate. Like they say, what you do to others will always come back to you. At the moment Kibaki and his cronies Michuku and others are happy. They are happy because they own the power of the gun. My grandmother, a faint woman in the village who took every effort to go and vote for a better future of Kenya is wondering what happened to her vote. I had to tell her the trueth. You voted and many voted like you but Kibaki said he won anyway. The only choice left for my grandma is to cry to God. Many of such old frail women cried to God and God answered them. The dictators lived to receive what they dished out to others. I am still purplexed why intelligent Kikuyu's and Kibaki still believe they will get away with rigging this election. Their belief is probably that they are the only ones that can own guns. They also may think that the support of United States will last forever. My answer is check your history. Any government established with disregard to the people verdict will never stand. It will die a natural death but worse still it will come with a full payback back to those who mistreated others. Saddam was hanged by the very same government that supported him, Mobutu died in exile and Amin became a truck driver inSaudi Arabia. I am left to wonder what will become of Kibaki when the Kenyan dust settles. No person in the government should ever dream of this fading away. The dust is agitated, the war is started, it will take so many years for it to settle and be assured many lives will be drowned with it. No one is safe including Kibaki. Life in Kenya must go through the whole process of a failed state. Military coup will come back to back. It is time the Kikuyus advice their son for the shake of their community. The fire is started, who will pour cold water on it. I think Kibaki and the Kikuyus are the only ones who can solve it. Please remember the West will not help. As soon as their interest is over they will leave you dry and high. Again history will repeat itself. I need not to elaborate. As at now, Kibaki as planted seeds of hate for the Kikuyu by all the tribes of Kenya. Think about all those tribes that voted the 100 MPS. How can Kibaki win with only two tribes and 35 MPS backing him. The writting is on the wall Mr. President. This will definitely catch up with you and your tribe if not your children. And moreso do not forget that you are fighting against almost all the tribes of Kenya except the GEMA. Please do not be cheated that this war is only against the luos. And even if it is against the luos only, at one point or another they may have the capacity to own a gun too. Dr. Barack Abonyo Joluo.com Akelo nyar Kager, jaluo@jaluo.com |
