Raila – The Great Kenya Hope. I believe the best contractual relationship we need to have with the son of the lake is to contract him with five years with each of our votes, why? For he is the great Kenyan hope and none of the other contenders have been tried and found ready, they have been found wanting again and again and again. Put it another way: The whole wide world is in need of a saviour and that’s why the Christian faithfuls await the coming of the Messiah to deliver them to the Promised Land. Lest we forget, the Israelites needed deliverance from the claws of the mighty Pharaoh: Moses was their great hope; he delivered them from their slave master to the promised land. The controversial dethrowal of Dictator Saddam Hussein and his ultimate execution was in a bleak way after much hue and cry by the Iraqis Kurds who were butchered by his regime their great hope was the controversial George Bush. The man who is been quoted over and over with the line “I have a dream” was looked unto by the minority African Americans for deliverance from the evil of color prejudices by their slave masters, he was their great hope. Coming back to the ground our land, our children , our mothers at least the majority of Kenyans are crying , the nation is on bended knees its in dire need of a liberator, it need, a schemer of the calibre of Vladimir Putin , It needs, the agility of a Tony Blair, it needs, the charisma of Bill Clinton and not the lull ness and the dullness of the incumbent that we are now bored of, Kenya needs a persona with the ability and agility of Yoweri Museveni to turn the economy round while it was a hapless feat, Kenya needs as South Africa needed Mandela to heal its ailing wounds from the aftermath of the gruesome apartheid Need I remind the readers that we Kenyans need peaceful fence mending after years and years of inter tribal abuses and mismanagement of the economy by specific tribal thieves. Today . Kenya needs Raila more than never before for Riala can fit into the shoes of the greats of this world who have been tested and found ready and rearing to go but never ever wanting.. The post independence Kenya has gone through a huge political metamorphosis but what has remained the same is the fact that the biggest tribe in Kenya has continuously plundered the country’s resources mercilessly. It need not be a surprise that for Kenya to move forward the realisation hitting home is: .the great hope in Kenya’s third liberation force can only come from a none Kikuyu tribe: the Biggest tribe in Kenya :This is an optimistic view now shared generally on the ground. The other 41 or so tribes have opened their eyes 40 years later to see how merciless the marginalisation has been. The pessimist will still burry their heads in the sand and pretend otherwise. Following on the founding father’s footsteps having been mentored this way: former president Moi continued with the plundering and the menace was so rife than ever witnesses before. Too bad we are now being told the stashed away funds may never be recovered (why cant the president veto against these stupid rules that are hindering the completion of this process if fighting corruption was a paramount ideal close to his heart?, another topic for another day) From the word go you could read, I didn’t like the Moi era as for the Jomo,I never understood the kenyatta era but I totally find the Kibaki era unpallatable.and distasteful and taking Kenya deeper into an abyss where Moi left it. Infact its an open and shut case that Kibaki has done in 5 years what Moi did in 24 years in terms of Tribalism, and resource mal allocation. Years of Moi’s misrule ended up with a move that we all thought was worthy: but has been costly, how wrong were we; the advent of Mount Kenya Mafia and now the menace of the Mungiku sect albeit the arrival of President Kibaki. Need we say more and we were locked into a five year contract with politicians who would drives us politically back to the to the dark days! And please let’s not even try giving an ear to the economy growth talk. Economy growth my “back end”, that which is measurable but cant be felt in the common man’s pocket, whilst this growth is figurative and not practical we shouldn’t forget that it amounts to the good works of the functionality of the original NARC just before the fallout with the LDP and this being the real results of the brainchild formula of the original NARC dreams. Put another way this tiny growth is supposed to be fruit of all not the Kibaki Government of National Unity alone The plundering, corruption and last but most paramount: TRIBALISM is rife as was never seen before in the Republic of Kenya, that’s why this great nation is crying! Crying for a liberator and a moderator!! The hope of liberating Kenya need not be tribal; it need be a persona ideal and natural behest on the individual and not mentored by an era of political tyranny of political turbulence that catalyst plundering and unethical malpolitical practices. The persona ideal need to be keen and ready to realise this nation’s dreams and goals. The liberator need be a neutral figure that which will look into healing not further dividing this nation, The persona ideal need to have realised the importance of democratic space, fought for it, maintained it by all means, he or she need to realise the need of FORESIGHT in leadership and therefore not “eat” with his Hench men alone but look into an equitable distribution of the national cake. He must have a national outlook and not represent his own tribal following. Going by these true benchmarks none other of all the contenders by this I mean neither Kalonzo nor Kibaki fits the bill. They all fall short and this column isn’t going to articulate how as it an open case of the opposite of the persona ideal has discussed above. Let’s honestly face the facts the problem befalling Raila amongst those who loath and fear him pegs on the fact that he is a Luo and that he will necessarily REVENGE, and what his followers enjoy is the fact that : HE WILL BRING CHANGE. Now lets not forget that he is a luo by default, and by default he is a Kenyan, by the same default he is inspiring to the masses who believe he can do some good and hold the four corners of this country by and blend it together. Kenyans aren’t that desperate like 2002 when it was time to get rid of Moi out of power, this time we just need change for the good and Kenyans are yearning to make a mark and throw the tribal outfit of the incumbent out of the door. It is seemingly clear and obvious that all the GIKUYUS are supporting their own and nothing is wrong with that but what is scary is that the sequence and the pattern at which this has been done looks so TRIBAL and perfect scheme to retain the order of the day, that even though Prof. Wangari Mathai has claimed Kibaki’s govt is rotten she is ready and willing to support him for a second term why, because she and he are GIKUYU’s and this applies to Paul Muite, Uhuru Kenyatta and the list of shame is endless from this region of those who are so eager and willing to maintain the recycling of power. So how in the world can the other 41 other tribes and so watch this and endorse this scheming again??? I suppose not in our lifetime. The resounding pattern that is loud and clear is that the Gikuyu en masse cannot vote anyone else other than their own . Note too that the deceitfulness of the incumbent is so strongly in Kenyans minds…the use and dump theory is so fresh only political fools can go blindly at any political binding with Kibaki in the hope of him honouring his part of such agreement. The failed MOU among other failed promises will forever haunt him to his political grave PERIOD.
