Date: Thu, 27 Dec 2007 03:06:15 +0000 D-Day for Kenya http://www.kenyalondonnews.co.uk/ KLN teams – London & Nairobi The Kenya We Want has become elusive. With a few hours to go, tension is mounting as reports of rigging efforts continue to pour in from all angles . The campaigns are over and now the incumbents and their challengers must stem the tide for tomorrow’s crucial vote to usher in the 10th parliament. Claims and counter-claims are the order of the day as the local media in Nairobi spill out images of suspect Government activity. In a recent report the KTN news channel showed footage of Administration Police officers being ferried to various locations around the country in private commuter vehicles at night. This lent to the idea that the move was clandestine and possible rigging venture. On Wednesday the Government spokesman Alfred Mutua, dismissed the allegations saying the exercise was a normal count of duty by the Government and had no link to the suggested rigging-operation. He said “The redeployment of the 65k APs was not unusual at this time.” But observers feel it is the way the redeployment is carried out that is a problem and has already resulted in the deaths of five people, some of them APs and all innocent lives lost because someone assumed they were there for other clandestine activity. It is the duty of the Government to inform the people they are duty bound to protect of what measures are being taken to do that. Like the practice in most civilised countries today; The Government should have let in the press on their security programmes. By doing this, the information would already have reached the common man and thus such incidents would not be an issue. The secrecy with which the Government is going about normal exercises is what is breeding doubt in people’s minds and generating the tension that may well account for more lives lost. Kenyans on the scene are sending messages by text, some of these messages are reports from the local media while others are eye-witness accounts. The Kenya London News is not responsible for the content of theses messages; “NTV footage: A man with Ksh. 2m (hard cash) was ‘arrested’ by wananchi. He was loitering from polling station 2 polling station. He said he was to pay PNU agents. He could not produce any lists of the intended recipients, he was show making frantic calls to God-knows –who.” Another text message, read; “In suspicious circumstances, a Kakamega bound busfrom Nairobi was abandoned by the driver at Lari. He cited mechanical problems and vanished. PNU supporters reportedly came 2 taunt the 60 passengers.” “Marked ballot papers are heading to nyanza from Wilson Airpt by kws plane no. 5Y KWT, carried to the airport by a sprinter car no KBA 875C. Alert others in nyanza.” Dan Oronje, MARIDADI, The Footability Store! 2957 Capital Park Dr. # 8 Tallahassee, FL 32301. email:footability@Comcast.net http://my.calendars.net/maridadi (850) 597 0311 RE: WATCH ELECTION IN REAL TIME Date: Thu, 27 Dec 2007 06:37:11 +0000 From: barack abonyo YOU CAN WATCH ELECTION LIVE THROUGH THIS WEBSITE.
