EAST AFRICAN LEGISLATIVE ASSEMBLY TO HOLD SITTINGS IN ZANZIBAR , 2-14 DECEMBER 2007

The Second Assembly of the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) is scheduled to hold its sittings in the Zanzibar House of Representatives Chambers in Zanzibar from 2 to 14 December 2007.

The Assembly , presided over by the Speaker, Hon Abdirahin Haithar Abdi, will hold plenary sessions to consider the EAC Joint Trade Negotiations Bill, 2007 ; the Report of the Legal, Rules and Privileges Committee on Amendments of Rules of Procedure; the Report of the Legal, Rules and Privileges Committee on the Amendments of the EAC Treaty; and the Report of the 117th Meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Union.

According to the Programme released by the Clerk of the EALA, Mr. Justin Bundi , the Assembly’s General Purpose Committee will meet on 5 December; the Regional Affairs and Conflict Resolution Committee on 6 December; the Agriculture, Tourism and Natural Resources Committee on 7 December; the Communications, Trade and Investments Committee, on 10 December; the Accounts Committee on 10 December; and the Regional Affairs and Conflict Resolution Committee on 11 December.
