During yester years, we had a poverty level of 56% this has reduced to 46% which translates to 2,000,000.00 Kenyans now leading decent lives, and while we expect and hope that this is reduced even further Mzee Kibaki is definately on the right track! KAZI IENDELEE!!!!!

Development is key to prosperity, says Kibaki.Written By:PPS , Posted: Fri, Nov 30, 2007

President Mwai Kibaki has stressed that development is the key to the prosperity of all Kenyans and urged voters to come out in large numbers to vote for the continuity of growth and expansion of the projects the have been going on in the last five years of his leadership.

Addressing mammoth crowds at a public rally in Sosiot town in Kericho, President Kibaki asked Kenyans to avoid being swayed by euphoria, which could not bring any meaningful change in their lives.

The President, who enumerated the achievements of his leadership in the last five years, cited the successful implementation of the free primary education programme, saying due to its success the Government will from January next year implement the free secondary education in all public schools.

In this connection President Kibaki called on parents and Kenyans in general to work hard and save part of their income to giving their children the best of the higher education.

"Now that we as a Government will shoulder the burden of educating your children for twelve years, you need to start saving part of your income so as to carter for their university education and other higher learning institutions," the President said.

The Head of State further said just as it has been the case in the last five years, his Government will continue implementing development throughout the country without discrimination.

Saying PNU will not waver from its pledges, President Kibaki added that once Kenyans give him another term of five years he will ensure all ongoing projects are completed and new ones initiated as per the manifesto of his party.

Among the development plans, which the president said would be intensified in the coming five years, is the building and rehabilitation of infrastructure, communications and the provision of water services in all villages in the country including the improvement of all medical facilities.

Said president Kibaki, " Everyone is a witness of what we are doing to improve our roads in all parts of the country, construction and rehabilitation work is ongoing and we intend to accelerate this to ensure that we achieve our goal of modernizing our infrastructure to international standards."

The President therefore urged Kenyans to vote candidates of all constituent parties of PNU to ensure that he has majority members in the 10th parliament.

" We have agreed amongst ten parties to join hands and ensure that the work we have began continues in earnest in the coming years so as to consolidate our unity as a country," the President said.

The President also reiterated that the Government will increase the women and youth enterprise fund to three billion each to ensure that the two groups of Kenyans continue to uplift their living standards.

President Kibaki reiterated his call to Kenyans to maintain peace and order even as the general elections approaches saying political competition should not be allowed to breed ethnic animosity and hatred amongst wananchi.

Speaking during the occasion, health Minister Paul Sang urged the Kipsigis community to vote president Kibaki for the second term to avoid being sidelined from the mainstream politics of the leadership of this country.

He noted that for the last five years the Kalenjin community as a whole has been out of the Government and were it not for the good leadership of President Kibaki of initiating development allover the nation irrespective of ones political affiliation then they would have missed a lot in terms of development.

The Minister therefore urged the locals to turn out in large numbers and vote for President Kibaki to ensure that he continues with the good work, which he has been doing.

Others who were present were minister John Michuki and the immediate former MPof Bomet Nick Salat among others.
