Parliamentary candidates' results of Kamukunji constituency have been nullified.

The move was taken after the returning officer Priscilla Wamwilu admitted that the whole process was marred with irregularities and that she had released results of 22,161 votes only out of the 119,000 votes cast.

Wamwilu also said she could not release presidential results because the ballot papers disappeared yesterday during the fracas in the constituency.

She told irate members of the public that her hands were tied and she had no option but to nullify the results that she announced on Friday.

Samwel Mbugua of PNU was declared the Parliamentary candidate winner with 9,524 votes but on Saturday Wamwilu said that those were provisional results because they were from only 22,161 votes out of 119,000 votes that were cast.

It emerged that amidst tight police security guarding the place the whole day and night, some thieves found their way to the ECK desk and stole the results.

Chaos broke on Friday and police had to intervene to restore calm into the constituency.
