THIS VICTORY WILL BE SWEET Mon, December 31, 2007 7:51 am Wananchi Watukufu, Yesterday I blogged here for hours, until I learnt that my cousin in Kisumu, a man I love dearly, had been shot and killed by the police. My auntie told me that there were bodies of young men, women and children lying in the morgue. I stopped blogging and went to weep. I cried for my cousin. Cried for my nation. Cried for all those who've been killed by the Michuki machine. But after crying, I realized that the fight must go on. We must be prepared to lose even more family members as this struggle against tyranny and brutality goes on. Yesterday I predicted that this evil administration would last no longer than seven days. There are six to go. We must press on. And may I make it clear to our friends from Central Kenya that this is not a struggle against them. This is a fight to protect the sanctity of the democratic process. We don't want to have to do this again in 2012 or at any time again in the future. We must send a strong message that the results of an election must be respected. I call on Kenyans in the diaspora to wear the same black bands our compatriots will wear in Thursday in support of the Hon. Raila Odinga and the hard-won democratic gains we've enjoyed in the last couple of years. There can't and will not be any inch of surrender until Kibaki and those who think they can dictate to enlightened, modern people like Kenyans are hurled into the trashcan of ignominy and permanent irrelevance. I plan not to weep again until the day the Hon. Odinga is inaugurated. Because at that time, my dear Kenyans, the tears of joy will be well deserved. Sam Okello President & CEO Sahel Books Inc. P.o.
