YOUTHFUL MIGORI, EMUHAYA CANDIDATES ON THE LEAD AS ELECTION D-DAY BECKONS. BY SHEM KOSSE. As the clock ticks away towards general elections, the Migori PNU and Emuhaya KADDU nominees are causing sleepless nights to their respective rivals, in their respective constituencies. Fred Otieno Rangili PNU and Tom Oscar Alwaka of KADDU, who are renowned for their widespread philanthropic missions and numerous development initiatives spanning to decades, continues to cause ripples having embarked on door to door campaign, for vote hunting. The tactical shift of strategy by the duo from public rallies to individual vote searching has caused panic to foes and friends alike at a time the campaign have hit home stretch. Energetic Rangili who is Migori based business mogul last week raised political temperatures during his colourful vision launching attended by thousands of his diehard supporters. He later kicked off his a meet the people tour, acknowledging cheers from enthusiastic supporters who turned up by the road side has his motorcade was snaking the turbulent political terrain, making several brief stopovers with last sojourn at Masara where he addressed a mammoth crowd.
Flanked by the PNU civic aspirants and the constituency coordinator, Paul Odhiambo Waga, Rangili decried the alleged misuse of CDF funds, the infrastructure and promised to catapult the constituency to greater heights of development if elected.
With Waga, further decrying the laxity by the PNU hierarchy to lubricate their campaign wheels, financially.Speaker after speaker showered youthful Rangili with praises. And Alwaka who is a Nairobi based business magnate cum political scientist from the prestigious Nairobi University, has mounted a well knitted campaign, and has got an edge over his opponents. He is likely to turn tables on his rivals owing to his consistent and unrivalled track development record. And it's on this background that the locals largely view him as a man with the locals' image. Something that political analysts and pundits say can only be wished away, at peril. To majority of the constituents interviewed by this journalist, opined that the Emuhaya parliamentary race is a two horse race between the pragmatic Alwaka and the beleaguered immediate former Mp, Kenneth Marende of ODM who is still bedeviled with alleged misuse of CDF funds.
