Dominion Farms

This is my second comment on Dominion Farms. My first comment is also posted in this forum. I have followed discussions closely in the net, as I live far away from home. The information that is coming out is pointing on a certain direction. This direction seems to be hazy for many elites and stake holders who have had contact with the investor in this project. It is a direction that needs very high intelligence to be able to see through it. Otherwise the laxed intellectual and the poor man out there will never really be able to see the bigger picture. All they are bound to see is the immediate food on the table for them.
 
The reason why such a situation happens is because we Luos, with our high education, tend to take a hands off approach when it comes to the niti gritty of development issues. We always resign ourselves to "GINO WASE MIYO N'GANE BIRO TIMONUA." After that we will go about our own business believing and blindly trusting that N'GANE BIRO TIMONWA GINO! This is the case which have befell the community in this Dominion SAGA.
 
Every Luo who tends to matter and who seems to have a voice was recruited by this one Cunning investor called Calvin Burgess, to Drum up support for his Venture. None of them could ever think otherwise, either because they larked exposure with white people or they just chose to be ignorant and closed their eyes to the terms of reference of the project in regard to future population growth of the locals around this project. In most cases population dictates development of a particular area
 
Now if we turned blind eyes to this factor of population growth, and ended up signing a contract of Lease for 99 years, then the Blame squarely lies with our Leaders. They must own up and go back to the drawing board. Yes admit that the Cunning Investor hoodwinked you to sell your own people and render them landless in future. You must own up to the little money you received so that your voice could be clear enough, through the pen, to drum up support for this Investor without thinking about your own people and what will happen to them in say ten years from now.
 
After owning up you must all come together and re convene a meeting for serious discussion to come up with certain terms of reference which will safeguard and protect the interest of the community around Dominion Farms for the entire period that Firm will be in operation i.e. 99 years. Dominion can go ahead and do its Farming, but must strictly observe those parameters set for its operation. The people must be represented. Their interests must be put on the table not the interest of you "little money eaters"
 
What these leaders have done, in the misguided belief that they were going to alleviate poverty to the poor in that area is like "Chiego Adhola (adding insult to injury), in that, in the long run that community will be poorer than they were before.  But all is not lost. I can see some very intelligent Luos like LUCIA AKETCH who have read through the script which is in Calvin Burgess' mind.
