Re: My Blog Your Excellency, When we voted for you in 2002, all Kenyans were united in 4 issues. We all wanted a new constitution. We wanted to do away with tribalism, corruption, and we wanted to create jobs for our youth. The truth is that we still have no new constitution. You made an attempt to give us what we did not want, what we were not part of, and we promptly rejected the effort. The truth is that all jobs that were vacant, you gave to some retirees from your backyard. These were people who had worked and retired, but you had more faith in them than the youth who voted for you. You rubbished our attempt to be above the tribe. The truth is that corruption became domiciled at State House, and when Githongo found out, he was promptly shunted aside by your close aides. The last point is that no new jobs have been created in the envisaged 500 000 per year promise. But all this aside, you messed the judiciary. You and your comrades came up with something they called radical surgery. This thing was neither radical nor was it a surgery. It was simply witch hunting meant to position those from the correct tribe to take up the dispensation of justice in Kenya. A time would come when the courts would be used to frustrate the efforts of Kenyans, and complaint officers had to be put in place. Thats why most of the judges who faced the panels have so far been proved innocent and returned to the bench. In your many road side decisions, you have created many Districts which are simply a burden to the tax payers. The rule of law has conveniently been shunted aside, so that in the ensuing anarchy, confusion is created and kazi ya uporaji goes on. It seems there was no commitment at the attempted streamlining of the chaotic matatu industry, and the moving to hawkers from the CBD. I know of a few inflated bills that pass for development for which Kenyans might want some explanations. The Muthurwa Market is said to now cost 700m as opposed to the initial cost; can you explain? The refurbishment of JKIA was meant to cost 840m, but all of a sudden, it went to so high; can you explain? Many other projects that pass for development have variance with the start up costs, what happened to the difference, or rather, who pockets the difference? More later if I get satisfactory answers on these. Oto Joluo.com Akelo nyar Kager, jaluo@jaluo.com |
