RE:RONGO BY JOSHUA OKOTH Dear Akello, I read with dismay a letter attributed to one Joshua Okoth urging Rongo voters to 'wake up'and elect 'NEW' leaders. From the tone of his words,he was specifically against Hon Dalmas. He couldnt tell us what the incumbent[Ochillo] had achieved or not that would warrant his re-election or rejection. He went further to bring back very flimsy history to discredit the ODM candidate"YALIYOPITA SI NWELE" I am greatful that he expressed his 'anger'but dismayed that he whad not organised his ideas on how this petinent ad serious issue could be maturelly approached. Akello, let joluo know that Rongo is one of the constituencies that was at the apex of development during 1988-1992.This was due to the pragmatic leadership of both The late Oyugi PC and Hon Dalmas Otieno. With the changes that followed in 1992 onwards, Rongo even opted for the youngest MP ever-Hon Ochillo succeeding Polo.I want to remind Joshua, that where both Oyugi and Dalmas 'reached'in their developments of Rongo then, Rongo has been stagnat in any kind of developments. Several negative things came up against Ayacko, that even if he were a candidate in Darfur,he would not be nominated to be an assistant chief there.Other candidates who offered themselves for the Rongo seat have nothing to offer too.If age, then Ayacko was too young and would have equalled kibaki or moi in parliament, but how he managed so many things in public including himself was a total disgrace to Rongo people. One of he best candidates in Luo Nyanza, especially in this era where Raila needs political interlects and not hecklers is Dalmas Otieno, besides Nyong'o.And to assist Okoth,Dalmas has always failed the political test since 1992 not because of his poor records in Rongo as a leader, but because he always booarded the wrong political vehicle-KANU AONGE MAN'ENG YAWA. WE WANT DEVELOPMENT IN RONGO-NOTHING LESS TOM WUOD ATINDA JA-RONGO Joluo.com Akelo nyar Kager, jaluo@jaluo.com |
