As one of the planners for Raila Odinga’s recent visit to Denver, learning about tribalism was not the subject of conversation nor the purpose of his visit, but how he would bring change to the country of Kenya. I am disappointed that you did not know that the organizers included members of the Kikuyu Tribe, among others, and also that you lost sight of the purpose of the Economic Summit and left early. It was a not a tribal “thang.” To the best of my recollections, most in attendance were from the “white-affluent- businessmen” tribe wanting to know about investment opportunities in Kenya. I have been following and watching the events in Kenya and, however afraid and saddened, I am by them, I realize these violent outbursts are occurring because there is a need for change in government. But mostly, Pius, I am disappointed that you informed the Denver Post reporter about your personal views on tribalism and not about what’s really happening in Kenya - that Raila Odinga received the most votes as president, which was followed by a rigged election and a hasty swearing of Kibaki. It’s not about tribalism but what is right and wrong. No different than Bush’s second election. So, unfortunately, you did not participate with the organizers to see who was involved in the planning of Raila’s visit - it was just not Luo. So in order to make change, it should start as home - and I understand that Denver is now your home. Bee Harris Peace, love and joy!
