RE: ALTERNATIVE SOLUTIONS TO KENYA'S STALEMATE: Secession, Constitutional Reform, Military Coup So what would you say, George, to a new election financed by the EU with the funds it would have otherwise withheld from the Kibaki government? We Kenyans in the diaspora are even willing to chip in to fund a re-run of the presidential election for the sake of justice, truth, and democracy. Attaining these ideals is, as you note, no small matter. This is why we believe so strongly in protecting and building on democracy. We think that a new election would be preferable to secession. As far as we can see, it would be a win-win for everyone...or, at least, for the legitimate winner. Certainly, a new election would be both peaceful and democratic if it were conducted in a transparent and fair manner.
