Your Submissions!
Jaluo Press is happy to report that the Tanzanian government has returned the travel documents of the group of Luo asylum-seekers in Dar es Salaam. The Tanzanian government has also agreed to create a place for these asylum-seekers in Arusha. They expect to begin the process of applying for refugee status once they are resettled in Arusha. We thank the Tanzanian government for its timely hospitality and we call on other world governments to respond in kind. This brings to mind, however, a larger question: Why have world governments not made arrangements to resettle Kenya's refugees? As news reports today show, the situation in Kenya is not getting any better. Even if a resolution is reached between the two leaders, it will be quite some time before these tribal rifts are healed. It is uncertain how many refugees will be able to return to their prior residences. In the meantime, the issue of refugees demands immediate attention and action, particularly from those governments whose interests are closely aligned with those of Kenya. - Jaluo Press ------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jaluo Press invites all readers and family members of Kenyan asylum-seekers and refugees from every ethnicity to submit their stories. How were you treated by authorities in the country in which you are seeking or sought asylum? Please include your ethnicity as we are trying to ascertain whether certain ethnic groups are treated worse by certain governments than are other ethnic groups. As usual, Jaluo Press will not publish your last name unless you indicate that you wish us to do so. Joluo.com Akelo nyar Kager, jaluo@jaluo.com |
